Eric and Chanda are both skilled organizers having put on numerous large-scale events
over the last decade; all of them run entirely by volunteers. For some time they have
dreamt and planned of starting their own Renaissance Faire near their home in
Portland, Oregon. Through contacts at both the County and Federal levels they have
discovered numerous potential sites. They have also established a wide circle of
experienced friends and acquaintances willing to help in this endeavor. Currently all
they lack is funding of willing investors.
The starting of any large-scale annual event has its risks, but also many potential
rewards. Proven business models exist throughout the US, Canada and Europe of
medieval & renaissance faires becoming successful and profitable annual events,
drawing visitors from far and wide, becoming not only fixtures in the local economy
but major tourist attractions. Through proper planning, organization, experienced
staffing and long-term investment strategy, this dream could easily become a reality.
Both Eric & Chanda have masters’ degrees in Geography including the study of
economic demographics, which has provided them with the answer to that age old
adage “location, location, location.” Now all they need is the backing to make it
work.
